Overview

Hear Baby is a lifestyle and bonding app designed to help expectant parents feel close to their baby during pregnancy. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what Hear Baby does and does not do with your data.

The short version: Hear Baby processes everything on your device. Nothing you record leaves your iPhone unless you explicitly choose to share it. We have no servers that see your audio.

Hear Baby is not a medical device. It is not intended to diagnose, monitor, or treat any condition. For any concerns about your pregnancy, please speak with your doctor or midwife.

Data Storage

All data Hear Baby creates stays on your device:

• Microphone audio — captured only while a listening session is active. Streamed to the app's on-device signal-processing and Core ML pipeline. The live microphone stream is never written to disk and never transmitted anywhere.
• Saved recordings — created only when you tap Save this moment during a listening session. Stored locally in the app sandbox as encrypted AAC files inside a CAF container.
• Your due date, week, and preferences — stored in the standard iOS preferences store on your device.
• Optional: iCloud sync — if you enable Sync Recordings in Settings, your saved recordings are backed up to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit. Apple stores the encrypted data on your behalf; we never see it, and we cannot access your iCloud account.

Hear Baby has no backend operated by us. There is no account, no server of ours that holds your data, and no analytics pipeline that sees recordings.

No Account Required

You do not create an account to use Hear Baby. We do not know who you are, and we cannot — there is no sign-up, no email collection, no phone number verification.

Analytics and Crash Reporting

Hear Baby ships with optional, consent-based analytics and crash reporting. Both are OFF by default. You must actively turn them on in Settings → Help Improve HearBaby for anything to be sent.

When enabled:

• Anonymous analytics (via TelemetryDeck): a random installation UUID is generated on your device. We record events such as session started, recording saved, and paywall shown. We never record raw audio, detection results, your due date, or any other personal information. The data is aggregated to help us improve the app.
• Crash reporting (via Sentry): when the app crashes, a crash report with stack trace and device model is sent. No audio, no recordings, no personal information is included.

You can turn these off again at any time. The App Store Connect "App Privacy" declaration reflects that analytics and diagnostics are collected only when you opt in, and never in a way that is linked to your identity or used for tracking.
